The Antigonish County District 9 Community Development Association is a nonprofit volunteer organization established in 2019 in Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia. Our mission is to work together with community members of all ages and backgrounds to identify, support, and develop projects that improve the quality of life for current and future generations. We welcome volunteers, ideas, and partnerships that help strengthen our community.
Over the years, local volunteers have led and supported many successful community initiatives and fundraising efforts. One of the largest projects was the development of Cape Jack Beach through a Memorandum of Understanding with Nova Scotia Natural Resources Parks Division, which later became a Provincial Park in 2015. Community efforts helped create parking areas, landscaping, accessible washroom and change facilities, and improved beach accessibility through the installation of a mobility mat.
The Association has also organized community cleanups, fundraising dinners and dances, bottle drives, and special events supporting local causes. During COVID, volunteers hosted take-away meal fundraisers and supported local playground initiatives. Through dedication, collaboration, and community spirit, volunteers continue to make a lasting difference in Havre Boucher and the surrounding area.
