Serving and Protecting Our Community
Since 1974, the Havre Boucher & District No. 9 Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served the residents of Havre Boucher and surrounding areas. Formed by local residents who recognized the need for organized fire protection services, the department has grown into a dedicated team of volunteers committed to protecting lives, property, and the community they call home.
Today, the department provides a wide range of emergency services, including fire protection, vehicle extrication (Jaws of Life), ice rescue, medical first response, disaster response, and wildland firefighting. Members are highly trained and ready to respond whenever help is needed.
Training plays an important role in ensuring firefighters are prepared for a variety of emergencies. Weekly training sessions are held every Monday evening at 7:30 p.m., allowing members to develop their skills, maintain certifications, and work together as a team.

Community Events and Activities
In addition to providing emergency services, the Havre Boucher & District No. 9 Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be an active part of community life. Throughout the year, members organize and support events that bring residents together, promote community spirit, and help support the department's ongoing operations.
Some of our annual activities include:
- Monthly Community Breakfasts held on the third Sunday of each month. Community breakfasts have wrapped up for the summer—stay tuned for details on our fall return!
- The Annual Firefighters Picnic, held on the first weekend of July and featuring activities and entertainment for the whole family.
- Community outreach and public education initiatives focused on fire safety, emergency preparedness, and community awareness.
These events provide opportunities for neighbours to connect, celebrate, and support the volunteers who proudly serve our community. Whether attending a breakfast, joining us at the picnic, or participating in one of our outreach programs, your support helps strengthen both the department and the community we serve.
Upcoming Event:
Join us for our Annual Firefighters Picnic on Saturday, July 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Havre Boucher Fire Hall. This family-friendly event features a parade, games, activities, food, entertainment, and an opportunity to meet the volunteers who serve our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Volunteer Opportunities
The Havre Boucher & District No. 9 Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for dedicated individuals who are interested in serving their community. New members must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the department's service district.
Volunteering with the fire department offers the opportunity to develop valuable skills, receive specialized training, build lasting friendships, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Whether your interests lie in emergency response, community support, or helping with department activities, there are many ways to get involved.

Historical Reflection
A Look Back
Over the years, the Havre Boucher & District No. 9 Volunteer Fire Department has responded to countless emergencies and stood alongside community members during some of the most challenging moments in our area's history. The following story highlights one such event and serves as a reminder of the dedication, courage, and commitment of the volunteers who have answered the call for more than 50 years.
Havre Boucher Wild Fire - 2020
On May 25th, 2020 a w
ild fire started in Frankville and within a short time period it was determined to be out of control due to extremely dry conditions. At the height of the fire it was thought to encompass 200 hectares. A command centre was set up at the Havre Boucher Volunteer Fire Station. Fire fighters from Mulgrave, Port Hastings, Tracadie, Aulds Cove and Pomquet assisted the Havre Boucher Volunteer Fire Department along with DNR and a DNR helicopter. The fire was contained within 3 days.
